BYD recorded 1,630 new car registrations in Austria in the first quarter of 2025, achieving a market share of 2.5 percent. This milestone allowed BYD Austria to overtake Tesla, making BYD Austria Tesla’s leading competitor and the brand’s strongest market in Europe. Two BYD models, the Sealion 7 and the Seal, ranked among the top 10 best-selling electric cars in Austria in the first quarter. Additionally, BYD Austria reached a record level of customer satisfaction in March.

In Austria, 948 more BYD models were newly registered in the first quarter of 2025 than in the same period of the previous year. This corresponds to an increase in market share from 1.4 to 2.5 percent , or 1,630 new registrations in the overall Austrian market.
This means that BYD has the highest market share of the total Austrian market compared to other European countries. In Q1/2025, BYD was also the third most successful electric car brand in the domestic market (BEV market share of 10.1 percent).
Danijel Dzihic, Managing Director of BYD Austria Tesla :
“In the first three months, we were pleased to more than double the number of new registrations. After almost 27 months on the market, we are now clearly among the top performers. Our strong price-performance ratio played a key role in this success. With the BYD Seal and the BYD Sealion 7, we placed two models among the top 10 best-selling electric cars. We also significantly outperformed Tesla in sales.”

New BYD locations planned
With 704 new registrations, March was also the strongest month in the brand’s history, according to Dzihic . This also shows in customer satisfaction: In March, BYD Austria ranked first in customer satisfaction for sales among all European BYD markets. The company reached the top position in Europe in this category.
Dzihic explains: “We were particularly pleased with the outstanding NPS result. It directly recognizes the daily efforts of our passionate, customer-focused dealer partners and our solution-oriented importer team.” I thank all customers for their trust.” NPS stands for Net Promoter Score and is a key metric for measuring customer satisfaction and loyalty.
